Southland delivers some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in North America, including bridges, tunnels, dams, water and wastewater treatment facilities, highways, pipelines, and marine structures that shape communities for generations.

You’ll work closely with project engineers, superintendents, and managers who support you throughout your assignment. In addition, you will receive dedicated guidance from Southland’s Workforce Development team. This structure ensures you have the direction, feedback, and resources needed to grow throughout your internship.

My internship with Southland has been a continuous learning experience. I was given the chance to have a real impact early on. Beyond the technical skills, I developed an ‘innovation mindset’, learning to proactively identify and solve problems. The team here is incredibly supportive, and I’m proud to launch my career here full-time.
I’ve had two great internships with Southland Holdings over the past couple of years. I started first as a field engineer and then moved into estimating. Throughout both experiences, I learned a lot about the industry. I was lucky to be paired with a great mentor, Harlan Haire, who helped me understand the work and introduced me to my current boss, Brogan Bishop. Brogan also took me under his wing during that internship. Overall, both experiences were amazing and played a huge part in where I am now.
Interning at Southland has provided me with the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of heavy civil projects, gaining hands-on experience and learning from some of the most skilled builders in the industry. Southland’s leadership has empowered me to take ownership of my learning by encouraging both curiosity and initiative.
Working for Southland Holdings and Oscar Renda this summer was everything I imagined and more! Everyone was very supportive and treated me with nothing but respect and kindness. Especially Jackson Adelman who taught and guided me throughout the summer.
My summer was excellent. From the moment I arrived on the job site, Chance Manning and Marvin Paz welcomed me as one of their own. I learned a lot over the summer and I look forward to interning with Southland again.
