Completed in 2014 by American Bridge, the Wrightsville Bridge Bascule Bridge Rehabilitation project involved upgrading the 731′ long Bridge Number 12 in Wrightsville Beach, NC. Work included rehabilitating the double-leaf bascule span, replacing steel stringers, cross bracing, and the steel grid deck, as well as painting the existing structural steel. The concrete deck was overlaid and cracks repaired. A new two-story control house was built, encapsulating the existing one, while maintaining its function during construction. Mechanical equipment was upgraded, including span drive motors and electrical systems, ensuring the bridge remained operational throughout.
