Williamsburg Bridge South Roadway Rehabilitation

Completed in 1998 by American Bridge, the Williamsburg Bridge South Roadway Rehabilitation project involved replacing the south inner and outer roadways while keeping the bridge open to rail and north roadway traffic. Work included removing existing steel grid decks, plate girders, and piers; constructing new piers; and installing 15′ by 60′ orthotropic deck panels weighing over 25 tons each. The project was delayed due to emergency repairs on the north roadway but was completed just 4.5 months behind schedule. American Bridge also erected 3,000 tons of steel girders and installed new deck panels.
