Waller Creek Tunnel Project: Inlet Facility at Waterloo Park

Completed in 2016 by Oscar Renda Contracting, the Waller Creek Tunnel Project: Inlet Facility at Waterloo Park Project consisted of the demolition and abandonment of existing facilities and construction of new building structure with approximately 21,627 square foot building footprint. The new building structure was equipped with debris handling and recirculation operations system, a transformer vault, an electrical/facilities room, storage rooms, restrooms, a control room and an open-air maintenance deck located above the spillway. Additional work consisted if constructing new underground electric, gas, telephone, cable, water, sanitary sewer lines and site storm inlets and drains, site improvements and landscaping, an in-channel concrete dam, creek restoration and stabilization downstream of the in-channel dam (a concrete approach with a concrete turning vane upstream of the in-channel dam). Also included was construction of spillway surrounded by mechanical bar screens, an inlet shaft and approximately 123 linear feet of 20.5-foot finished diameter tunnel section, with a tie into the main tunnel constructed by others.
