Veterans Drive (Route 30)

Completed in 2021 by American Bridge, the Veterans Drive Reconstruction project widened 0.46 miles of roadway along the Charlotte Amalie waterfront. Work included pavement reconstruction, seawall construction, drainage improvements, lighting, and a new promenade with landscaping. The project reclaimed 3.5 acres of waterway and rebuilt 2,500 LF of roadway in three phases to minimize traffic disruption. Key features included a 2,400 LF pre-cast counterfort gravity wall, 50,000 CY of land reclamation, new utilities, sidewalks, and a lighting system. Overcoming challenges from hurricane impacts and seawall design modifications, the project revitalized the waterfront, enhancing pedestrian access and community space.
