Completed in 1993 by American Bridge, the US Air Force SLC 4W Modifications project consisted of reinforcing the structural system, changing the hammerheads, and modifying the entire roof system in the assembly building modules. These renovations were required due to modifications in the assembly process of newly designed rockets for the space program.
