Completed in 1963 by American Bridge, the Unisphere project consisted of an open-frame 120′ diameter sphere on a three-pronged support with tubular pipe parallels, “H” section equator, and box meridians. Land areas were built up with rigidized metal sections. All materials and connections were stainless steel. The 500-ton structure was fabricated and constructed by American Bridge.
