Completed in 1903 by American Bridge, the Uganda Railway Viaducts project consisted of the fabrication and erection of 27 railroad viaducts with 20′ tower spans and 40′ main spans, totaling 11,880′. The towers reached heights of up to 112′. These viaducts are located along a 73-mile stretch of the Mau Escarpment west of Nakuru, Kenya, where the track elevation rises by over 2,200′. Steel was delivered to Kilindini Harbour at the Port of Mombassa and transported to the work site by railroad.
