Completed in 1919 by American Bridge, the Thames River Railroad Bridge project consisted of constructing a two-track, five-span through truss bridge for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railway Company. The spans included 186′, 328′, 327′, and 324′ riveted through trusses and a 188′ Strauss heel trunnion bascule span. The bridge is now owned by AMTRAK and was renovated by American Bridge in 1982 under J-1670-79.
