Completed in 2010, the TECO – Flume Reconstruction project consisted of the reconstruction of the discharge facility for non-contact cooling water for the heating coils at the power plant. Water is pumped from Tampa Bay and poured over the external fins for cooling purposes and then returned to the bay by way of two mixing chambers and flumes. Portions of this work were scheduled during plant outages and were considered very environmentally challenging with the warm water during the winter months with the Manatees. HW Lochner is the Designer.
