Taxiway “J” Bridge Reconstruction

Completed in 2016, the Taxiway “J” Bridge Reconstruction project consisted of the reconstruction of the Taxiway J Bridge over the George Bean Parkway and right-of-way for the future APM system: The six-phase project includes removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge approximately 300 feet long and 214 feet wide. The new bridge is supported by 2 abutments and 3 intermediate piers built on 42-inch and 48-inch drilled shaft foundations. The superstructure contains prestressed concrete beams with transverse post tensioning topped with a 12-inch-thick slab. Johnson Bros. to install MSE retaining walls and concrete pavement approaches on either side of the structure. Project also includes excavation and backfill associated with the temporary traffic patterns.
