Sunshine Skyway Bridge (Cable Stayed)

Completed in 1987 by American Bridge, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (Cable-Stayed) was an 8,858’ (2,700m) precast segmental bridge built in a joint venture. It featured a 1,200’ (366m) cable-stayed main span, twin segmental roadways, and a high-level post-tensioned segmental section. Construction included stay cables enclosed in steel tubes, post-tensioned concrete towers, and erection over a major shipping channel at 175’ (53m) above water.
