Completed in 2018 by American Bridge, the SR-351.66 Bridge Replacement over the Genesee River replaced the aging Portageville Bridge, a key rail link between Binghamton and Buffalo. The new 963-foot single-track arch bridge, built 75 feet south of the original, features a 483-foot-long arch with no footprint in the river below, restoring its natural state. Upgrades eliminated weight and speed restrictions, allowing for 286,000 lb. rail cars at 30 mph. Work included structural steel erection, micropile foundations, concrete piers, grading, and demolition of the old bridge. The new bridge opened to rail traffic on December 11, 2017.
