Completed in 2011 by American Bridge, the Sherman Minton Bridge Girder Repair project involved exposing and retrofitting welded connections at the bottom box chords of two 600′ double-deck tied arches over the Ohio River. The work was performed under traffic, with steel detailing and fabrication done on an accelerated schedule. During the project, cracks in the T1 steel were discovered, leading to a temporary bridge closure for repairs. Final inspections were completed by INDOT on November 3.
