Completed in 1981 by American Bridge, the Sewickley Bridge project involved constructing a new 1,500-ft (457m) three-span continuous cantilevered truss bridge on existing piers. The welded steel box chord truss weighed 4,770 tons (4,327 tonnes). The contract also included demolishing the old cantilevered truss bridge.
