San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge – Emergency Eyebar Repairs

Completed in 2010 by American Bridge, the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge Emergency Eyebar Repairs project consisted of the emergency repair of the cracked eyebar support member at Span E-3 of the cantilevered truss. The crack was discovered during an inspection during a full bridge closure while a new span was being slid to allow room to complete the permanent new approach to the tunnel on Yerba Buena Island. Temporary repairs had already been made by other contractors, one of which failed. This repair was permanent and was designed to last until the new bridge opened in 2014.
