Completed in 1935 by American Bridge, the Sagamore Bridge project consisted of one of two nearly identical arch truss bridges fabricated and constructed simultaneously by American Bridge over the Cape Cod Canal (the other was the Bourne Bridge). American Bridge’s scope of work included the three-span 1,408′ main bridge, including the 616′ main span. The weight of structural steel was 5,025 tons.
