Plaquemines Coal Terminal – Dual-Stacker Expansion System

Johnson Bros. Corporation constructed a new coal terminal, capable of handling 15 million tons per year. The terminal consistss of a dock, a 7,000 tons per hour traveling ship loader, dual 4,000 tons per hour stacker reclaimers and associated conveying systems. The terminal received coal via river barges which is then transported by conveyor to on-land storage and shipped by ocean vessel.
The project was constructed in 23 months under the terms of a price not-to-exceed contract. The project consisted of 300,000 cubic yards of earthwork, 4,800 cubic yards of concrete, 66,000 linear feet of piling, 1,700 tonsd of structural steel and 6,500 linear feet of conveying systems.
