Pier II Replacement

Completed in 2008 by American Bridge, the Pier II Replacement project involved the demolition and replacement of a concrete pier and two timber finger piers. The work included 1,300,000 CY of dredging, installation of precast piles, pile caps, decks, and concrete columns. The project used 26,368′ of 54″ cylinder piles, 26,817′ of 36″ cylinder piles, and 12,696′ of square piling. New piers were built with reinforced concrete, and a special corrosion-resistant mix was used for the upper deck. The project also included extensive shore utilities and power systems.
