Pier 8 – Structural & Mechanical Repairs

Completed in 2005 by American Bridge, the Pier 8 Structural & Mechanical Repairs project involved hydro-demolition of the existing pier apron deck, recasting a new reinforced deck, shotcrete repair of the pier underside, and pile jacket repairs. Additional work included sheet pile bulkhead repairs, timber fender system repairs, and replacement of the water distribution, sanitary, and steam piping systems. Modifications also included removing the Siamese connection, installing step-up transformers for air compressors, and providing UL-listed air compressors meeting NFPA 13 standards.
