Completed in 2008 by American Bridge, the Pier 6 Replacement project involved demolishing and disposing of piers 4, 6, and 13, along with dredging 373,000 CY of material for disposal in a Confined Aquatic Disposal (CAD) Cell. The new structure, founded on steel pipe piles, includes 70,000 CY of reinforced concrete, bollards, and shore services for new submarines. American Bridge self-performed most of the work, including pile installation and concrete construction.
