Completed in 2008 by American Bridge, the Pier 11 Replacement project involved demolishing existing piers, extensive dredging, and installing precast and cast-in-place concrete elements. The work included over 82,000 feet of piling, a reinforced upper and lower deck, and advanced shore utilities, including high-voltage power for naval vessels. A key feature was the T-Head extension, designed for RORO access to LHD ships. Pier 11 is the only Navy pier capable of powering the new generation of supercarriers, incorporating structural and electrical advancements over previous piers.
