Completed in 1910 by American Bridge, the Million Dollar Bridge project consisted of a four-span through truss railroad bridge (400′, 300′, 450′, 350′) built for the Copper River & Northwestern Railroad across two active glaciers. One span fell during the 1964 Alaskan earthquake; the bridge was later converted for vehicular use.
