Completed in 1985 by Mole Constructors, the Merrill Creek Reservoir project entailed constructing a 1,540 linear feet tunnel with an 11-foot diameter tunnel. It was conventionally excavated as a horseshoe-shaped rock tunnel through massive gneiss.
