Marian Street Bridge

This bridge is a four span deck plate girder structure, with spans of 94’6″, 210′, 252′ and 210′. The heaviest lift was 48 tons. Erection equipment included an S2 derrick on a traveler, a 20 ton ginni wink on a barge, and a 3000 crawler yard crane. The steel was delivered by rail then hauled one block to the site, and unloaded by crawler. The traveler transferred steel to a barge, where the girders were spliced. Falsework consisted of timber bents on timber piles, driven by the ginni wink. Work commenced on site on May 6, 1952 and was completed July 18, 1952.
