Manchester Bridge

Completed in 1913 by American Bridge, the Manchester Bridge project consisted of the fabrication and erection of a two-span, pin-connected through truss at the mouth of the Allegheny River in downtown Pittsburgh. Each truss was 531′ long x 35′ wide (162m x 11m), with six lines of plate and angle stringers, floor beams, and a buckle plate floor. The bridge became obsolete due to its narrow width and was demolished by American Bridge in 1970 under Order # K-3780-82. American Bridge also constructed its replacement, the Fort Duquesne Bridge, a steel tied arch bridge.
