Completed in 2008 by Southland Contracting, the Main Interceptor Upgrade, Phase 1 Project consisted of installing approximately 109 linear feet of 72-inch steel casing tunnel by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), 278 linear feet of 72-inch FRPM installed by jacking pipe following a TBM, 150 linear feet of 96-inch by 36-inch pre-cast box culvert by hand mine jacking, and 113 linear feet of 48-inch steel casing tunnel by hand mine methods.
