Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched November 29, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-843 on December 23, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-843 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 18 to June 29, 1945). USS LST-842 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-843 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: September 9 to October 26, 1945; July 30, 1946 to February 11, 1947; and March 26 to Decemebr 2, 1947. Decommissioned on December 18, 1947 and transferred to the Philippines and named BPR Bulacan. Struck from the Naval Register on January 22, 1948. Final Disposition, fate unknown.
