LST 837

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched November 3, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-837 on November 29, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-837 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 18 to 29, 1945). USS LST-837 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-837 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: September 25 to October 20, 1945 and November 18, 1945 to March 10, 1946. Decommissioned in June 28, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register in August 15, 1946. Sold for non self-propelled operation on February 6, 1948, to Madison B. Wright. Final Disposition, fate unknown.
