Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched October 20, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-834 on November 10, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-834 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 1 to 10, 1945). USS LST-834 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-834 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: September 2, 1945 to April 2, 1946. Decommissioned on September 13, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on October 8, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on December 13, 1947, to Kaiser Co., Inc., Seattle, WA.
