Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched October 16, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-833 on November 10, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-833 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 1 to June 18, 1945). USS LST-833 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-833 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: September 25, 1945 to January 5, 1946. Decommissioned on May 2, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on June 10, 1947. Transferred to the US Army Transportation Service, date unknown, commissioned USAT LST-833. Sold for operation on May 13, 1948, to Alexander Shipyards, Inc., New Orleans, LA. Final Disposition, fate unknown.
