LST 771

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched September 21, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-771 on October 18, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-771 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, March 26 to June 7, 1945). USS LST-771 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-771 was assigned to Occupation service for the following periods: September 15 to 29, 1945 and November 12 to December 23, 1945. Decommissioned on May 14, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on June 5, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on September 26, 1947, to Boston Metals Co., Baltimore, MD.
