LST 770

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched September 17, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-770 on October 13, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-770 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, March 26 to June 22, 1945). USS LST-770 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-770 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from September 15 to October 26, 1945. Decommissioned on April 29, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on July 31, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for non self-propelled commercial operations on February 6, 1948, to Madison B. Wright.
