Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched September 12, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-769 on October 9, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-769 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in the Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 1 to June 10, 1945). USS LST-769 earned one battle star for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-769 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from September 20 to November 30, 1945. Decommissioned on April 29, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on July 3, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for commercial operations, December 11, 1947, to California Co.
