Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched August 16, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-763 on September 8, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-763 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in two campaigns including the Iwo Jima operation (Assault and occupation of Iwo Jima, February 19 to March 3, 1945) and Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 26 to June 10, 1945). USS LST-763 earned two battle stars for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-763 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East for from September 10 to November 13, 1945. Decommissioned on April 29, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on August 15, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on December 11, 1947, to Southern Shipwrecking Co., New Orleans, LA.
