Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched June 26, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-680 on July 21, 1944. During World War II, USS LST-680 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in three campaigns including Luzon operation (Lingayen Gulf landings, January 5 to 16, 1945), Manila Bay-Bicol operations (Zambalesa-Subic Bay, January 20 to 30, 1945) and Consolidation and capture of the Southern Philippines (Mindanao Island landings, April 17 to 23, 1945). USS LST-680 earned three battle stars for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-680 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from September 23 to October 25, 1945 and November 17, 1945 to April 10, 1946. Decommissioned on July 5, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on August 28, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on May 14, 1948, to Bethlehem Steel Co., Bethlehem, PA.
