LST 671

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched May 11, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-671 on June 2, 1944. During World War II USS LST-671 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in three campaigns including Leyte operations (Leyte landings, October 20, 1944), Luzon operation (Lingayen Gulf landings, January 9, 1944) and Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, April 2 to June 7, 1945). USS LST-671 earned three battle stars for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-671 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East for the following periods: September 10 to 29, 1945; October 18 to December 3, 1945; and December 18 to 23, 1945. Decommissioned on June 25, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on August 15, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on September 26, 1947, to Boston Metals Co., Baltimore, MD.
