Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched May 6, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-670 on May 29, 1944. During World War II USS LST-670 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in three campaigns including Leyte operations (Leyte landings, October 20, 1944), Luzon operation (Mindoro landings, December 12 to 18, 1944) and Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, March 21 to June 28, 1945). USS LST-670 earned three battle stars for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-670 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East for the following periods: September 6 to 23, 1945. Decommissioned on April 30, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on June 19, 1946. Final Disposition, Sold in 1948 to Suwanee Steamship Co., Jacksonville, FL. named MV Macoris. Resold in 1952 to Navebras S.A., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, renamed MV Santa Madalena reflagged Brazil. Final Disposition, burned, 16 October 1953, 15 miles off Sao João Light, Maranhao.
