Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched April 30, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-668 on May 23, 1944. During World War II USS LST-668 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in four campaigns including Western New Guinea operation (Morotai landings, September 15, 1944), Leyte operations (Leyte landings, October 16 to 30 and November 9 to 29, 1944), Consolidation and capture of the Southern Philippines (Mindanao Island landings, March 10 to 16, 1945), and Okinawa Gunto operation (Assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto, June 12 to 28, 1945). USS LST-668 earned four battle stars for World War II service. Decommissioned on June 30, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on July 31, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on May 26, 1947, to Bethlehem Steel Co., Bethlehem, PA.
