Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched April 18, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-665 on May 12, 1944. During World War II USS LST-665 was assigned to both the Europe-Africa-Middle East the Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. Participated in in two campaigns including the Invasion of Southern France (August 15 to September 25, 1944) and Western Caroline Islands operation (Capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands, September 6 to October 14, 1944). USS LST-664 earned two battle stars for World War II service. Following World War II USS LST-665 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: October 16 1945 to March 1, 1946 and March 14 to 27, 1946 Decommissioned on June 11, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on July 3, 1946. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on December 10, 1947, to Salco Iron and Metal Co.
