Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched March 20, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-659 on April 20, 1944. During World War II USS LST-659 was assigned to the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater. Participated in the Invasion of Southern France (August 15 to September 25, 1944). USS LST-659 earned one battle star for World War II service. USS LST-659 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East from September 2, 1945 to January 7, 1946. Decommissioned on January 7, 1946 and assigned to Commander Naval Forces Far East (COMNAVFE) Shipping Control Authority for Japan (SCAJAP), redesignated Q003. Struck from the Naval Register on February 7, 1947. Final Disposition, sold, 25 May 1947, to the government of South Korea as Ryong Hwa, fate unknown.
