LST 657

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched February 25, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-657 on April 10, 1944. During World War II USS LST-657 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Following World War II USS LST-657 was assigned to Occupation and China service in the Far East for the following periods: September 2, 1945 to February 23, 1946 (Navy Occupation Service Medal) and September 2, 1945 to February 23, 1946 (China Service Medal). Decommissioned on February 23, 1946 and assigned to Commander Naval Forces Far East (COMNAVFE) Shipping Control Authority for Japan (SCAJAP), redesignated Q071. Transferred to the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS), March 31, 1952 and placed in service as USNS T-LST-657. Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register, May 1, 1961. Sold to Indonesia 1961 as Teluk Manado (L 505), struck 1983. Final Disposition, fate unknown.
