Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched December 15, 1943. Commissioned USS LST-294 on January 20, 1944. During World War II USS LST-294 was assigned to the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater. Participated in the Invasion of Normandy (June 6 to 25, 1944 – USS LST-294 was in the first wave of LSTs to land on Omaha Beach). USS LST-294 earned one battle star for World War II service. Decommissioned on December 18, 1945. Struck from the Naval Register on January 8, 1946. Transferred to the Maritime Commission on October 13, 1947. Final Disposition, sold for scrapping on October 13, 1947, to Luria Bros. and Co., Philadelphia, PA.
