LST 276

Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched August 29, 1943. Commissioned USS LST-276 on October 11, 1943. During World War II USS LST-276 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Participated in five campaigns including Marshall Islands operation (Capture and occupation of Kwajalein and Majuro Atolls, January 31 to February 8, 1944), Hollandia operation (April 21 to 28, 1944), Marianas Islands operation (Capture and occupation of Saipan, June 15 to July 28, 1944), Western Caroline Islands operation (capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands, September 6 to October 14, 1944), and Luzon operation (Lingayen Gulf landings, January 9, 1945). USS LST-276 earned five battle stars for World War II service. Redesignated Landing Ship Tank (Hospital) LST(H)-276, September 15, 1945. Following World War II USS LST(H)-276 was assigned to Occupation service in the Far East for the following periods: November 1 to December 10, 1945 and January 1 to February 15, 1946. Dicommissioned on March 1, 1946. Assigned to Commander Naval Forces Far East (COMNAVFE) Shipping Control Authority for Japan (SCAJAP), redesignated Q079. Placed in service by the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) as USNS T-LST-276 on March 31, 1952. Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register on June 10, 1973. Transferred to the Republic of Singapore in 1973. Final disposition, fate unknown.
