Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched May 16, 1943. Commissioned USS LST-266 on August 4, 1943. During World War II USS LST-266 was assigned to the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater. Participated in the Convoy UGS-36 on April 1944 and the Invasion of Normandy on June 1944. USS LST-266 earned two battle stars for World War II service. Dicommissioned on June 17, 1947 and laid up in the Reserve Fleet. Renamed USS Benzie County (LST-266) on July 1, 1955. Final disposition, fate unknown.
