Built by American Bridge Company at the Ambridge Manufacturing Plant in Ambridge, PA. Launched January 8, 1944. Commissioned USS LST-140 on February 9, 1944. During World War II USS LST-140 was assigned to the Europe-Africa-Middle East Theater. Participated in two campaigns including Convoy UGS-36 (April 1, 1944) and the Invasion of Southern France (August 15 to September 22, 1944). USS LST-140 earned two battle stars for World War II service. Decommissioned on January 5, 1946. Struck from the Naval Register on March 12, 1946. Final Disposition, sold, September 18, 1947 to the Southern Shipwrecking Co., New Orleans, LA. for scrapping.
