Commissioned, USS Aventinus (ARV(E)-5), June 7, 1945, at New Orleans, LA., LCDR. A. Kutz,USN in command. Decommissioned on April 30, 1946, at San Diego, CA. Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, San Diego Group. Recommissioned on July 28, 1950. During the Korean War USS Fabius participated in the following campaign; UN Summer-Fall Offensive (October 1951). Decommissioned on April 4, 1952, at San Diego, CA. Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, San Diego Group. Struck from the Naval Register, June 1, 1973. Final Disposition, fate unknown. USS Fabius received one battle star for service in the Korean War.
