Commissioned, USS Aventinus (ARV(E)-3), May 30, 1945, at New Orleans, LA., LCDR. Harris, William W. Jr., USNR in command. Decommissioned on August 30, 1946, at San Diego, CA. Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, San Diego Group. Recommissioned on July 25, 1950. Decommissioned on April 4, 1952, at San Diego, CA. Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, San Diego Group. Transferred to Chile in August 1963, renamed Aguila (ARV-135). Struck from the Naval Register, June 25, 1992. Final Disposition, scuttled in August 1980 after running aground.
