Completed in 1973 by American Bridge, the Louisiana Superdome project consisted of erecting the structural steel for this fully enclosed domed stadium with 72,000 seats. The stadium measures 750 feet x 750 feet at ground level and 273 feet high, featuring a Lamella dome roof with a 680-foot diameter. Total structural steel was 17,009 tons. In addition to the structural steel, American Bridge also erected 10,000 tons of pre-cast concrete seat deck units.
