Completed in 1975 by Mole Constructors, the Lee Seville – Phase 1 project involved the construction of a 72-inch tunnel spanning 4,104 linear feet. A 7-inch Scott Tunnel Boring Machine was used for excavation, and the tunnel was constructed using 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe. The excavation process traversed through shale at depths ranging from 30 feet to 40 feet.
